“Maybe the answer is not in moving, but in staying still.”

The crowdsourcing era is definitely at its peak. Starting from Waze, numerous transportation apps have been made. In the PH, there are the private-car giants Grab & Uber. (Wunder is also starting to make its presence felt with its unique “ride-sharing but not really income-generating” approach.)
Aside from these private firms, The government also introduced the P2P bus system (which goes to and from CBDs Makati and Ortigas without other unnecessary stops.) With all these solutions, we thought that maybe the answer is not in moving, but in staying still.
Novacante is a parking app targeting the Grab & Uber drivers. In the Philippines, numerous people took advantage of Uber’s business model, buying multiple cars for profit. These cars are empty, roaming around Metro Manila, waiting for passengers to book; all the while adding to the congestion. The Novacante parking lots will be strictly for these drivers because they are expected to be continuously moving. Novacante will also open its doors to private home owners with vacant parking spaces.
Parking fee will be by the minute, priced competitively against gas prices. This will make it appealing to these drivers because they would’ve spent more or less the same amount on gas (by driving around the city, and waiting for passengers) anyway.
Also, parking availability will most likely be inversely proportional to booking demand. More parked cars = less passengers in the area. By making this information available, we can also tip the drivers so that they can move to current booking hotspots. Overall, this will solve the congestion problem. Well, at least lessen it, right? 🙂
