Force Noire est une exposition en hommage à Fela Kuti.
En 1977, Fela est le musicien le plus célèbre d’Afrique. Le premier Punk Africain. Musicien revolutionaire, perfectionniste, inventif, charismatique et inspiré, il invente son propre genre de musique : l’Afrobeat : une complexe fusion de Jazz, des rythmes Yoruba et de Funk. Leader politique, les sarcasmes de FELA n’ont jamais enchanté les autorités, sa mère était une militante des droits de l’homme decédé de ses blessures, ni son style de vie controversé: en reponse le même jour, il déclare avoir ouvertement fumé de la marijuana, ajoute que sa maison est un Etat indépendant du Nigeria et épouse ses 27 danseuses . En 2010, il revient comme un esprit sur le devant de la scène son incroyable histoire remporte un succès international avec la comédie musicale FELA à Broadway produit par Jay-Z et Will Smith. Pour la première fois à Paris Dinah DOUIEB présente à la Galerie 59 Rivoli: les oeuvres du peintre dessinateur et graphiste de FELA KUTI : Lemi Ghariokwu. Il a réalisé 26 pochettes de disque du roi de l’Afrobeat Fela Kuti. Son travail est un témoignage visuel important de ces années de troubles politiques et d’euphorie créative. Le photographe Pierre Terrasson rencontre le roi de l’Afrobeat en 1983 en France. Il photographie l’effervescence de l’univers de Fela avec ses musiciens et ses danseuses.

Force Noire veut s’interroger sur le phénomène Fela Kuti sous un angle original, abordant les thèmes de la contre-culture des années ’70 en Occident et en Afrique.
Lors de la conférence, nous présenterons au public 50 œuvres originales de Lemi Ghariokwu qui sera à Paris du 13 janvier au 5 février 2012.

Force Black is an exhibition in tribute to Fela Kuti.
In 1977, Fela is the most famous musician in Africa. The first African Punk. REVOLUTIONARY musician, perfectionist, inventive, charismatic and inspirational, he invented his own genre of music: the Afrobeat: a fusion of jazz, Yoruba rhythms and James Brown Funk. Political leader, his sarcasm FELA never pleased the authorities, his mother was an activist for human rights by the Nigerian military killed or lifestyle controversial in response the same day, he openly declares that he smoked marijuana, said that his house is an independent state of Nigeria and has married 27 women. In 2010, he returned as a spirit in front of the stage his incredible story won an international success with the musical FELA to Broadway. His work is an important visual record of these years of political turmoil and creative euphoria. The photographer Pierre Terrasson meets the King of Afrobeat in France. He photographs the excitement of the world of Fela with musicians and dancers. The exhibition will present the Black Force visual record of the 70’s & 80’s.
