On November 6th, 2013, ELEV8ED’s founder, Mark Redman, was arrested for multiple counts of marijuana trafficking. Following his arrest, our shop faced an emotional close and Mark began a year-long battle within America’s judicial system. With the local news publications came an inaccurate depiction of streetwear culture, Mark, and ELEV8ED, which had become a home for many skaters, designers, and musicians in the city. More importantly, the articles painted an unrealistic picture of Mark’s character.
This multi-part documentary is Mark’s opportunity to speak to ELEV8ED supporters and answer any lingering questions surrounding his arrest. It is also an opportunity to challenge the preconceived image of a “criminal” which, for someone like Mark, can be illustrated as a community leader, a father, a former ARMY sergeant, a mentor or a friend.
