The Cannabis Kollective and Florida Cannabis Coalition co-hosted an educational & expo event for medical professionals, entrepreneurs, caregivers and anyone interested in medical cannabis at the first annual North Florida Medical Conference, Saturday, October 28th. Leaders and advocates from across Florida who know the science and what the laws mean to you, your business and your family were present to help attendees navigate the cannabis landscape.
The festivities began at 9:30 a.m. with a discussion on the politics of marijuana, moderated by Jermyn Shannon El, founding member of the Cannabis Kollective, which organized the event. The panel included Dr. Terel Newton, city of Jacksonville’s statistician Drew Goble and me. Much of the talk centered on the ongoing opioid “crisis,” on which Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department has already spent more than four million dollars in 2017 alone just transporting overdose victims, 464 of whom have died as of press time.
